2019
Nora faces severe eczema
No treatment worked – only creams that masked symptoms. With her background in molecular biology and pharmaceutical engineering, Nora started changing her diet to search for real answers.
2021
Symptoms improve, but allergies appear
Diet helped Nora reverse her eczema, but she also uncovered multiple allergies. This raised a bigger question: could allergies and other conditions be prevented from the start? Her research pointed to the gut in early life as a key factor.
2022
Partnering with Prof. Willem De Vos
At a conference, Nora heard Willem share his discovery: by testing a child’s gut, you can predict their future health and allergy risk. Inspired, she reached out, and their shared vision became the foundation of Alba.
Willem is a world renowned researcher and a pioneer in microbiome science – with 800+ publications, key discoveries since 1998, and leadership of the HELMi cohort, one of the world’s largest child gut studies.
2023
Alba Health is founded
Backed by top investors including the founder of Oura and the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and recognized by Forbes, Alba was founded with a bold ambition: to reduce the risk of chronic diseases in children, starting with the gut. Our foundation lies in the breakthrough research of Willem and other leading scientists.
2024
Launching the PREVENT study
We launched the largest study of its kind in Sweden – the PREVENT Study – becoming the first company to follow children’s gut health over time to predict future conditions.
